1. Telur mempunyai nilai kegunaan protein (net protein utilization) 100 persen. Bandingkan dengan daging ayam (80 persen) dan susu (75 persen).

2. Kulit telur terbuat dari kalsium karbonat yang juga merupakan bahan dasar utama beberapa jenis antacids. Sekitar 9-12 persen berat telur terdiri dari kulitnya. Kulit telur juga memiliki pori-pori sehinga oksigen bisa masuk dan karbon dioksida serta lembab keluar.

3. Putih telur terbuat dari protein yang disebut albumen dan juga mengandung niacin (vitamin B3), riboflavin (vitamin B2), klorin, magnesium, potasium, sodium dan sulfur. Putih telur ini mengandung 57 persen dari protein telur.

4. Warna kuning dari telur ditentukan oleh makanan ayam betina. Makin banyak padi-padian yang memiliki pigmen kuning dan oranye yang dimakan si ayam betina, makin kentallah warna kuning telurnya.

5. Warna telur juga bervariasi sesuai usia dan faktor lainnya. Menurut Egg Safety Center, Amerika, warna putih telur yang agak keruh justru menandakan telur itu segar. Warna putih yang jernih menandakan telur itu berasal dari ayam yang sudah tua. Hindari mengonsumsi telur yang warna putih agak merah muda atau berubah warna lain.

6. Terkadang ada sedikit darah dalam telur. Darah ini berasal dari pembuluh darah di kuning telur yang pecah. Namun telur ini tetap aman dikonsumsi.

7. Ketika ditetaskan, suhu telur sekitar 40,5 derajat Celcius. Semakin dingin, cairan di dalamnya akan mengendap dan terbentuk sel udara antara dua lapisan telur.

8. Seekor ayam betina mampu bertelur 250-270 telur setiap tahunnya.

Mereka menganggap kemasan ini sama saja dengan teh yang dimasukkan dalam saringan metal, mereka langsung melemparkan begitu saja kemasan tersebut ke dalam air panas. Baru kemudian mereka menyadari bahwa ternyata kemasan tersebut cukup praktis untuk menyeduh teh secara langsung. Mereka menganggap ini lebih praktis karena tidak perlu membersihkan saringan teh atau teko. Selesai diseduh, kemasan berikut tehnya bisa langsung dibuang. Lama-kelamaan permintaan sample teh dalam kemasan makin banyak, dan pada akhirnya Thomas Sullivan menyadari bahwa ini bisa menjadi dagangan yang menguntungkan. Teh celupnya mulai dipasarkan secara komersial pada tahun 1904, dan dengan cepat popularitasnya menyebar ke seluruh penjuru dunia.

Akan tetapi, disadari pula, kemasan tersebut membawa problem sendiri: Kualitas aroma dan rasa. Daun teh, membutuhkan ruangan untuk mengembang, sehingga bisa mengeluarkan aroma dan rasa yang optimal. Solusinya adalah membuat kemasan lebih besar, dan daun teh yang digunakan ukurannya yang paling kecil. Ukuran ini dikenal dengan nama Fanning dan Dust yang merupakan tingkat terendah dari kualifikasi kualitas teh. Ukuran yang kecil menyebabkan zat tannin lebih cepat keluar, sehingga menimbulkan rasa pahit.
